Spring Into Action Adventure Day
SPRING INTO ACTION!
Local people swap their remote control for the great outdoors
People in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire, are being encouraged to get active and explore their adventurous sides for an exciting day of outdoor activities on Sunday, 30th March 2008.
‘Spring into Action’ is an outdoor pursuits day open to all ages in the community and has been organised by the Active Grindleford team in partnership with Whitehall Outdoor Pursuits Centre. The idea behind the day is to invite people to sample a host of outdoor pursuits in rural settings.
From off road mountain biking on local routes to a taster session in rock climbing, there is plenty to wet the appetite. People can also try their hand at canoeing and kayaking at Bamford on the River Derwent.
Those with a sense of adventure can also look forward for a treasure hunt style session in orienteering. Walkers can also don their boots for a day out in the hills sampling the country air and testing their navigation skills.
Commenting on the Spring into Action day Paul Whitworth said: "Spring into action has been set up to inspire people of all ages from the local area to get out into the countryside and sample a range of sports. From gentle walking to exhilarating off road biking, there's something for everyone."
Active Grindleford is a project launched by the former Minister for Sport Richard Caborn, that has been developed to forge strong links with the community, create unrivalled sports facilities and encourage people to pursue more active and healthier lifestyles.
